Last week Jackson wrapped up his first year of Scouting by receiving the Tiger Cub and Bobcat awards. He's been so lucky to participate, as a 7 year old, in the Scoutreach program that is offered through the elementary school. Next year he'll start out at the school and then switch to our ward unit when he turns 8.
At the awards assembly, I couldn't help but think of my Grandpa Geilmann who devoted many, many, many years of service to Scouting. I'll never forget how proud he was to earn the Silver Beaver and the feelings of love and encouragement he would always pass on to my brothers as they received various scouting awards. He truly believed in boys and in Scouting. I'm sure that somewhere up in heaven he's bragging to all his fishing buddies that his great-grandson Jackson is now a Bobcat!
Way to go Jacks! We love you and look forward to some really great Scouting adventures!
In Cub Scouts they do random silly applause instead of the traditional hand clap. Jackson's applause was "bacon sizzling in the frying pan." This is him SIZZLING!

Jackson - Grandmacinny and Papa are so proud of you. We love Scouting, we love the boys that are scouts and your great grandpa Geilmann was one great Scout. And don't let me forget about you own daddy. He is putting so much into the scouting program. You can look up to him in so many ways, even Scouting. Follows his examples: We're all scouts! Yes, I was a girl Scout.
